Dr Justine Reilly BA (hons), MPhil, PhD, AMA
Director, Sporting Heritage
After completing an undergraduate degree and Masters in History and Archaeology, Justine began her career as a Producer for the BBC and Granada Television. A career change led Justine to work as Learning Co-ordinator at the National Museums, Liverpool and Deputy Head of Learning at the National Media Museum, Bradford. In these roles, Justine developed a passion for the role and value of museums and how they can support learning and engage new and different audiences with their collections and stories. Justine headed the BBC’s outreach programme in Yorkshire, before joining the Museums, Libraries, and Archives Council as Learning Manager in the North. Justine completed an AHRC collaborative doctoral award examining the role and value of Sport, Museums and Cultural Policy in 2014, and worked as a freelance cultural consultant for ten years before setting up Sporting Heritage, the UK’s sector support organisation. Justine is the Director of Sporting Heritage, a not-for-profit organisation which aims to increase the collection, preservation, access, and research of sporting heritage in the UK and wider. Justine holds the Associateship of the Museums Association (AMA) and is an assessor for the award.
